October passed in a whirlwind of apples, brightly colored leaves, unseasonably warm temperatures, and pumpkin everything. It was a good month, but I’m happy to kick off November, my favorite month. Let’s look back on all things October….
Traveled: To Indiana, but only for bits and pieces of the first two weekends. I wrote about those adventures here.
Read: Portrait in Sepia, Running with the Mind of Meditation, The Bone Clocks
Watched: Hocus Pocus with Nick on Halloween – it’s my favorite movie of the season.
Ran: A nice, even 100 miles. That was even with tapering for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon, which accounts for 13.1 of the miles this month. Another 6.2 of those miles were raced at the Great Pumpkin 10K.
Taught: Two classes at Climb Nulu, one Free Yoga Friday, three kids’ Halloween-themed outreach classes, two in-studio classes, three classes at my gym, and, of course, Yoga for Runners at Yoga on Ridley.
Facilitated: Another ice breaker at this month’s Connecting Things event. Teddy Abrams, the conductor of the Louisville Orchestra, was the speaker, and so we got creative (read: noisy) with instruments.
Celebrated: My future sister-in-law’s bridal shower. We filled up on mimosas and bagels, and forced our men to help haul all the gifts back to her house.
Enjoyed: This post looking back on life as a 20-something (I’m almost halfway through these years), this article about an artist transforming dolls into famous female role models, and this guide from Joy the Baker on how to weekend.
Purchased: My very first running watch, the Garmin Forerunner 225. I haven’t tested it out yet but I am very excited about the built-in heart rate monitor. I also got a great deal on airline tickets for my next trip to Honduras this coming February!
