Five months ago, I wrote a post about my initial experiences with Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga and 502 Power Yoga. I remember distinctly the night that one of the studio owners made a connection with me and told me about the style’s emphasis on community and service. That triggered something inside me, but little did I know how involved in that growing community I would become…
This past weekend, 502 Power Yoga celebrated it’s six month anniversary! The teacher-leaders in training were put in charge of planning and executing (with great help from other members of the community) an outdoor yoga dance party. Over 100 yogis, some regulars and some newbies, came out to shake their asanas. I got so much joy from being able to practice next to Nick, who enjoyed his first yoga experience at this studio, and who has by extension been a part of this community, too.
This week the studio also had its second Yoga on Tap event at Great Flood Brewing Company, which raised money for Dreams with Wings. These nights not only bring the community of yogis together, but unite local businesses for a good cause. I also like the opportunity to socialize with friends and other familiar faces from the studio.
We’re also, once again, lululemon‘s studio of the month, which means they are sponsoring free classes on Monday nights. As if it couldn’t get any better…our small groups from training are team teaching the classes. My group is up next week!
